change my stock timing belt? i guess what i should ask is, how long should i expect it to take?

depends are you going to do it yourself? if so it took me about 3-4 hrs to do mine with manual tools

but a shop can whip it out in about 2 hrs with air tools

it'll be jer and i doing it. i'm just trying to decide if i want to attempt to do the clutch on the same day.

i know this is a stupid question but, was it pretty easy? i'm guessing it's all basically taking it apart and putting it back together, right?

The biggest issue with our cars is the motor mount in the middle of the belt (on my mighty 1.5L anyway) - you have to hold up the engine with a jack or something while you disassemble the mount and get the belt out. Also, with manual tools the crankshaft pulley bolt can be a big time pain in the a$$. If you are lucky, a good strong socket, coupled to a breaker bar and maybe a long pipe will break it loose. It would kinda suck to get your wheel off (you need to just to access the bolt), then have to put it back together to get a pro with some power tools to get it loose. Also, don't forget to replace the water pump when you do your timing belt.

I've made my attempts....and man it's just not easy to do. If you had air tools then do it, if not then take it to a shop and have it done. Buy the belt beforehand or they will change twice as much.
